Jason Covert was born in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania and he was raised on a farm in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania.  His parents are Ruth Covert and the late E. Leroy Covert.  Jason presently resides in York Haven with his wife Jaynelle and he has two daughters, Brittney and Allison.

Jason started racing in 1987 at the age of 16.  He started his racing career in the 4-Cylinder Mini Stock Division driving an orange Pinto numbered 15.  He raced in that division from 1987 to 1991.  He had his first career win in the first event he ever entered in 1987 at Path Valley Speedway.  In 1987 he received the Rookie of the Year award at both Hill Valley Speedway and Path Valley Speedway.

From 1992 to 1997 Covert raced in the 4-Cylinder Late Model Division.  In 1997 he won the Championship at Path Valley Speedway and he also received the Most Popular Driver Award.

In 1998 Covert moved up into the 358 Late Model Division and raced in this division for a total of 5 years.  Up until 2000 Covert owned and operated his own cars but from 2000 to 2001 he drove for Fryeco Racing and from 2002 to 2005 he drove for Motter Motorsports.  During this 5 year time span, Covert earned the Rookie of the Year Award at Silver Spring Speedway in 1998 and he captured one championship at Path Valley Speedway and two championships at Silver Springs Speedway in both 2000 and 2001.  Also in 2000,  Jason had the opportunity to race a Super Late Model at Clinton County Speedway and he came away with a win in his first ever appearance in a Super Late Model.  In 2002 Jason raced a handful of races in the Super Late Model Division while he was still competing in the 358 Limited Late Model Division.

In 2003 Jason had his first full year of Super Late Model racing.  He earned the Rookie of the Year Award at Hagerstown Speedway and a highlight of the 2003 racing season was setting fast time at the STARS Renegade show at the Winchester 200.  In 2004 Covert was named the Most Improved Driver at Hagerstown Speedway and he finished 3rd in points.  In 2005 Covert collected two wins at Hagerstown Speedway and finished 5th in points.

In 2006, Covert started his 20th year of racing by stepping into the 43A owned and operated by the legendary Barry Klinedinst and he competed in the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (“MACS”) where he and the team captured the championship title.  With MACS, they collected one victory, six top fives and 14 top 10 finishes out of the 16 races the series ran.  Looking at the entire 2006 racing season, they collected five wins, 17 top fives, and 28 top 10 finishes out of the 41 races they ran.  Covert now has a total of 53 career wins and five championships.

When Jason is not racing he enjoys working at the race shop, reading racing material, playing video games and hunting.  His favorite professional driver is Keith Kauffman and his hero is his father.
